Vehicle Description 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 for sale! Motorcar Classics is proud to present this very rare 1969 Camaro Z/28.
Built in Norwood, Ohio and sold new at Sunset Chevrolet in Sarasota, Florida.
Presented is an authentic 1969 Camaro 2/28 that retains its original drivetrain, color and interior although it was restored in 2006.
This z/28 is unique as it was one of the last 1969 Camaros produced in 1969.
Of the Camaros produced at the Norwood plant and according to official GM records was completed in early November 1969, the last month of production.
Note that the cowl tag indicates body production in the 5th week of October and the Protect-O-Plate also indicates October.
It should be noted that the body production and the installation of the cowl tag is normally 3 to 4 days from final assembly which would put it in the first week of November.
Official GM records indicate 3,990 Camaros completed their assembly in November having sequence numbers 707933 thru 711922 making this Camaro is one of the last of the venerable 1969 Camaros built.
Of the 243,085 1969 Camaros, only 20,302 were z/28s, making number 708124 is one of the last.
Of the over 200,000 Camaros built in 1969, only 6.
7% (Approx.
16,286) were painted Daytona Yellow.
As verified by the trim tag, Daytona Yellow (Code 76) was the original color although the car has been repainted in two stage, Base Coat/Clear Coat (Clear Coat over the painted stripes).
The interior is the ultra-rare Yellow Hounds Tooth (Code 714) that was only delivered in a small percentage of the Daytona Yellow cars and is as delivered.
Number 708124.
is noted on the trim tag as being a true z/28 as identified as an X77.
The car however during the restoration, has been modified to an RS model (hidden headlights) that would have been identified with style trim code X33.
Note however that this modification was made using factory original vacuum headlight parts and an Endura front bumper.
No cutting of any original sheet metal was done in order to make this modification so reverting back would be an easy change.
Included with the sale is the chrome front bumper if it is desired is to go back to the original base model.
Other differences are, this car does not have the chrome trim on the quarter panel gills nor the rear bumper overriders.
These were merely customer preferences during the restoration and again, are easy to correct.
In addition to the numbers matching engine, all major engine components with the exception of the distributor (restamp) and the non-stock headers (though headers were a dealer installed option on z/28's) are believed to be original to the car.
This includes; Cylinder Heads, Carburetor, Water Pump, Transmission, Differential/Rear Axle, Wheels and Glass.
A list of these numbers is included in the pictures.
The original DZ 302 was rebuilt in 2006.
Included are dyno sheets subsequent to the rebuild indicating hp in the 220 to 230 range.
The engine is paired with its original 4-speed Muncie transmission and positraction rear end with 3.
73 gears.
Other features include power steering and brakes, factory spoilers, rosewood steering wheel, Hurst shifter, AM Radio and console gauges, all in working order.
Included with the car is its original Protect-O-Plate mounted to its original delivery card further confirming certain components of the vehicle.
A stamp on the card confirms the original dealer, Sunset Chevrolet in Sarasota, Florida on November 28, 1969.
The original Owners Manual and Warranty Card are also included.
