Staff Accountant

Our client, who is located on the border of Nassau/Suffolk, is looking to add to staff!! We are looking to fill a staff accountant position on a temp to perm basis!! The schedule is Monday - Friday from 8:30 - 5:30.

In this role as a staff accountant, you would be supporting the controller and CFO in carrying out various responsibilities of the Finance/Accounting department. Maintains and controls the General Ledger accounts and business transactions of the company, applying the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Job Duties (including but not limited to):
o Handles all bank reconciliations
o Calculate and process monthly sales commissions
o Preparation and filing of sales and use taxes
o Process customer rebate payments
o Review and reconcile company issued credit cards and expense reports
o Assist in various A/P and A/R functions including invoicing
o Assist with month end close and year end audits
o Perform various business analyses
o Assist in other projects/duties as assigned by Controller

Requirements:
o Minimum 2 year degree in Accounting
o Minimum 3-5 years' progressive experience in accounting department for multi-million dollar company
o Advanced Microsoft Excel and Access skills (and proficiency with other Microsoft Office programs)
o Knowledge of QuickBooks and familiarity with ERP systems such as Microsoft NAV a PLUS

Exceptional communication skills; working knowledge of GAAP; strong organizational skills; time management skills; proficient with Outlook; data entry; ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively; ability to work independently; sound judgment; analytic and problem solving skills; detail-oriented; ability to maintain composure in stressful situations; reporting.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
